WOSB Program
The Air Force's Women-Owned Small Business Program is committed to providing the most
effective and innovative methods of assistance to meet the needs of women-owned small
businesses (WOSBs) that wish to do business with the Air Force. One of the Air
Force Small Business Office's top priority goals is to award 2.1 percent of all
prime contracts to women-owned businesses in fiscal year 2005. The Air Force Small
Business Office is determined to meet that goal and help WOSBs attain contract awards
commensurate with their skills, knowledge, and capabilities.
The primary objective this program is to assist WOSBs in acquiring prime contracts with
the Air Force. When that is not possible, we encourage WOSBs to pursue subcontracts,
joint ventures, or other partnerships.
The small business specialists located at every Air Force base serve as the executors
of the WOSB Program on a daily basis, assisting WOSBs in every step of the contracting

In fiscal year 2005, the Air Force's Women-Owned Small Business Program is involved in
several initiatives to help increase WOSB participation in Air Force prime contracting.
Among these are the following:
- Performing a market analysis to identify industries and geographical areas where
the Air Force spends a significant amount of contracting dollars, many women-owned
small businesses are active in the industry and area, and the Air Force has not
historically made awards to those businesses.
- Coordinating outreach activities fueled by the above study and other data to
inform WOSBs about how to do business with the Air Force and match WOSBs with relevant
requirements.
- Making sure preference programs with set-aside authority are being used to their
full capacity so that WOSBs that also qualify as 8(a), HUBZone, or service-disabled
veteran-owned small businesses can take full advantage of the restricted competition
these programs provide.
