Air Force MTAPP 2005 Summit
Air Force Manufacturing Technical Assistance Production Program (MTAPP) 5th Annual Summit was held November 8-9, 2005 at the historic St. Anthony Hotel in downtown San Antonio, Texas. The two-day training conference was held for 79 participating small business manufacturers. Representatives from Primes and 1st tier contractors also attended. The summit provided attendees networking and educational opportunities focused on building knowledge about the best ways to meet Air Force and DoD supply chain needs. The summit theme was “Teaming – Creating Strategic Partnerships to Address Supply Needs” - Enhancing Small Business Capabilities in Support of the Air Force Supply Chain Transformation. The 2005 summit closed with an awards and celebration banquet where 22 new companies were welcomed into the program and 23 companies graduated and were distinguished as MTAPP Alumni. Four MTAPP companies received awards for their 2004-2005 efforts that embodied this year’s summit theme. Congratulations to M2 Global Technology, Ltd. of San Antonio, TX and Patterson Machine, Inc. of Union Grove, AL the recipients of the MTAPP “Teaming to Succeed” awards; and to EJM Aerospace Services of Crestview, FL and Quality Networks, Inc. of Wetumpka, AL both recipients of “MTAPP Mission” awards. Thank you to our MTAPP Summit Key Supporters, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and Lockheed Martin who help make this year’s event possible. We also thank all of our MTAPP stakeholders and partners for their support for this event and their ongoing support throughout the year.

New MTAPP Company Selection Completed
Air Force MTAPP has completed the identification of the programs 2004/2005 new suppliers . Twenty-two new small manufacturing companies have been recommended and approved to undergo assessments and develop continuous improvement plans. This expansion of MTAPP companies will broaden the program’s impact and increase the value of the program to its major stakeholders.

Air Force Small Business and Lockheed Martin Corporation provided small business training March 1-2, 2005 at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Fort Worth, Texas. This special training event was by invitation only. Several Air Force MTAPP participating companies attended the. Small businesses were provided networking – buyer interface opportunities; certification processing assistance in several small business classifications and the latest industry information from Air Force small business.

Air Force, Lockheed Martin Sign MOU to Strengthen Small Business Programs
The U.S. Air Force Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization and Lockheed Martin Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on August 2, 2004 to improve outreach to small businesses through strengthening the working relationship between the Air Force and Lockheed Martin.

New MTAPP Company Selection Underway
In June 2004, MTAPP will be selecting 25 new small businesses to participate as MTAPP companies. This expansion of MTAPP will broaden the program’s impact and increase the value of the program to major stakeholders. These new companies will be selected from a pool of suppliers developed through the collaborative efforts of the Air Force Outreach Program Office (AFOPO), lead MTAPP contractor TheA saba Group, and major AF/DoD and prime contractor stakeholders. Only through such a broad based collaboration can MTAPP ensure that the selected suppliers bring the requisite capabilities, experience,and commitment necessary to realize the overall mission of the program.
