Developing Small Business Manufacturers to Meet Critical
U.S. Air Force and DoD Supply Chain Needs.
Program Overview
The Air Force Office of Small and Disadvantage Business Utilization (SAF/SB),
now the Office of Small Business Programs, established the Manufacturing
Technical Assistance Production Program (MTAPP) to assist in increasing and
enhancing the competitiveness of small manufacturing firms in support of the
Air Force, Department of Defense, and their major Prime Contractors.
The program is managed by the Air Force Outreach Program Office (AFOPO) at
Brooks-City Base, San Antonio, TX. MTAPP is a small business initiative that
provides technical and managerial assistance with the goal of enhancing the
capabilities of small business manufacturers. This in turn increases their
ability to deliver low cost, higher quality, and innovative products.
MTAPP has identified 89 small manufacturing firms as potential suppliers for
Air Force and Department of Defense programs. MTAPP works with member companies to
assess their capabilities and provide continuous improvement plans with corrective
action road maps for better serving the government market. MTAPP support includes
individualized technical assistance to the participating firms with the goal of
addressing the gaps in their capabilities and improving their ability to meet
future Air Force and Department of Defense requirements.
