Summit Overview

Air Force Materiel Command is implementing Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (PSCM). When implemented, PSCM will require suppliers to compete within an integrated end-to-end purchasing and supply system that spans the Air Force supply chain. PSCM will change the direct-togovernment market providing the Air Force with greater control and visibility into demand and supply planning, purchasing, inventory management, and supplier management. The objective of this summit is provide small manufacturers information on sustainment transformation and training on strategic alliances to remain competitive.

    In support of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management (PSCM) transformation efforts, AFMC established commodity councils to develop and execute strategies designed to support recurring spare parts and component repairs requirements. Shared goals across these councils include decreasing the number of contracts awarded and increasing the parts ordered per contract. This presentation will provide an update on Commodity Council efforts including changes in demand and supply planning, purchasing, inventory policy, and supplier management.
