Chapter Three Introduction

Contracting responsibility for support of the individual command mission generally is assigned to a particular base or bases within the command. Contracts awarded by the other bases assigned to the command generally are limited to the supplies and services required for the daily operation of the base. A list of typical services and items bought by all base contracting offices follows at the end of this chapter.

The following ACC bases have contracting responsibilities for supplies, services and construction (the ACC Contracting Squadron, Langley AFB, VA, is responsible for contracting command-wide requirements, including integrated technology requirements).

The following AETC bases have contracting responsibilities for operational support items such as commodities, services, and construction. The AETC Contracting Squadron, Randolph AFB TX, is responsible for command-wide contracting requirements such as:

DoD commissary construction, operation and maintenance of Vance AFB TX, aircraft maintenance, recruiting advertising, and pilot training. In addition to purchasing commodities, services and construction requirements, the 12th Contracting Squadron, Randolph AFB TX, is responsible for command-wide requirements for automated data processing (ADP) requirements.

AETC requirements include:

A&E design and construction of commissaries, worldwide
ADP equipment
Aircraft simulator training
Base contracting of supplies, services and construction
Factory training
Operation and maintenance of Vance AFB
Recruiting advertising
Training under the foreign military sales program
T-37 and T-38 Aircraft Maintenance
T-41 light plane pilot training
Undergraduate pilot training
